Kosua (Marie-Kosua)A contemporary painter, my work exists at the intersection of my West African roots and Hindu spiritual imagination. Through an intuitive and sensitive approach, I explore themes of femininity, sensuality, and spirituality, seeking to express inner states, emotions, and personal narratives that are both intimate and universal.
My paintings unfold as symbolic territories where the visible engages in dialogue with the invisible, and where the female figure occupies a central place. She emerges as both gentle and powerful, embodying a quest for authenticity, reconnection, and transcendence.
Cultural heritage lies at the heart of my artistic practice. West African and Hindu influences shape my visual language not merely as aesthetic references, but as deeply rooted identity and symbolic foundations. Afro identity also represents a source of grounding and truth, which I integrate into a distinctly contemporary expression.
Painting is an introspective act, guided by emotion, intuition, and a sense of purpose. Colors, forms, and textures become narrative vehicles, conveying memories, dreams, and sensations. Through my work, I seek to offer a visual and emotional experience, allowing each viewer the freedom to project their own sensibility and imagination.
